Scarborough Fair

Dette er opprinnelig en tradisjonell engelsk melodi som Simon & Garfunkel nærmest gjorde til sin egen på albumet Parsley, Sage, Rosemary & Thyme fra 1966. "Scarborough" er en by i England og i middelalderen var det en populær "festival" her som samlet handelsmenn og underholdere. Den gikk under navnet Scarborough Fair.

Med denne perlen av en vise erklærer vi herved Simon & Garfunkel Weekend 2016 for åpnet!

Portrettet

Art Garfunkel

Født: 5. november 1941.

Fra: New York, USA.

Art Garfunkel er selvsagt mest kjent for å være den ene halvparten i duoen Simon & Garfunkel. Hans vakre, lyse tenorstemme passet perfekt med Paul Simons stemme og gitarspill.

Etter bruddet med Paul Simon i 1970 valgte Garfunkel skuespiller-yrket i noen år og var blant annet med i filmen Catch-22 fra 1970. Han gav også ut noen soloplater, men disse ble ingen stor suksess. Hans lidenskap for matematikk gjorde at han for en periode jobbet som mattelærer ved en lokal skole.
